I had a pair of over ear beats I used to use that never did this as the ear pads are pleather and the sweat just wipes off whereas the APM are cloth over memory foam and they absorb the moisture. The drawback I found with this though is the moisture absorbs into the ear pads and they started to smell funny after only a couple of times using them while mowing wear I sweat a bit. I love the sound quality on APM and basically started out using them for everything including wearing them mowing the lawn as the noise cancellation work awesome for blocking the sound of the mower and I could listen to music at a lower volume.

I have PowerBeats Pro and APM so won’t compare them so much. If the price is the same, though, and you need to have it shipped anyway, then I recommend Apple. You may also want to check for student discounts if you are a student, both from Apple and Best Buy. Keep in mind that Best Buy price matches a ton of online and local retailers, so if Amazon has the best price, but you want it that day, you can get it in store at Best Buy and have them price match it, for instance. I don’t think I’d be worried about them not being genuine as long as you get them from a retail that does direct business from Apple, like Amazon, Best Buy, etc., and they often have better sales, but someone like Electronic Express who Apple doesn’t sell to is probably a good idea to stay away from. I bought mine at Best Buy, since I know they’re Apple authorized and I can still get AppleCare through there, and I got a pretty sweet discount from a virtually unused open box pair, but otherwise I’d get them from Apple. To embarrassed to use it as Apple status bling.Īs you surmise, AirPods Max are fantastic for home and in-flight (would look at third party cases as that smart case offers no real protection). Also, I feel I look like a Cyberman from Doctor Who when I'm wearing these things. I feel confident with my AirPods Pro for all outdoor and exercise use. Also while the all aluminum build looks beautiful, a drop on the ground would bring pain and visual shame to these headphones. The AirPods Max have no environmental protection rating at all and even exercise sweat might be enough to damage these things. Now on to where I don't use the Max at all.
Indoors I almost exclusively use my AirPods Max. While several reviews mention the weight from the all metal construction (premium build quality here), I really don't notice it even with very long listening sessions. The comfort of the headband and the over the ear cups is really good. My ears get tired with the pressure of the Pro's insert (sufficient size to block incoming sound on the buds). The ear cushions are oh so comfortable, much better than something inserted into the ear canal.

While the Pro's are amazing for ear buds, the tiny drivers cannot make up for the driver size differences. First, the quality and size of the driver (speaker) is significant.
